Bayern were comfortable victors on Saturday as they continue their attempt to catch Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the Bundesliga.
Thomas Muller's clash with Darmstadt goalkeeper Marcel Schuhen early on set the tone for a chaotic start to Saturday's Bundesliga matchup. The veteran forward was kneed in the head by Schuhen before Kane tapped into an empty net, but the referee somehow elected to award Darmstadt a free-kick – which catapulted the game into life.
Still reeling from that disallowed goal, Bayern were stunned as Mathias Honsake slalomed forward for the home side before teeing up Tim Skarke. 1-0 down to the Bundesliga bottom-club, Thomas Tuchel needed a response. And he got it courtesy of the majestic Jamal Musiala, who stroked home from Kane's assist. The England captain may have been denied early on but he eventually, and inevitably, got himself on the scoresheet. He put Bayern in front to score a record-breaking 31st goal of the season as he continues to chase down Robert Lewandowski's record of 41 goals in a Bundesliga season.
Darmstadt came close again just before the break when Oscar Vilhelmsson rattled the cross bar, but that was where their threat ended as Bayern went up a gear in the second period. Musiala scored his second just after the hour mark with a mazy run capped with a fine finish. Substitutes Serge Gnabry and Mathys Tel got in on the action late on as Vilhelmsoon scored a delightful flicked consolation, sealing what ended up a routine 5-2 win for Tuchel's men. The only blight on a near-perfect day was Kane limping off injured late on after he suffered a horrible collision with the back post, as Tuchel will be left sweating on his fitness.

While Bayern came out the easy victors, for Darmstadt it is a dismal 19th Bundesliga match without a win, as they look all-but guaranteed to be relegated from the German top flight.

Jamal Musiala truly is majestic. Kane may have scored a record-breaking 31st league goal, and technically assisted Musiala's first effort, but this match belonged to the Germany international. The 21-year-old's immaculate close control and insane dribbling ability have become his staple in recent years, and that was on display for all to see on Saturday. Even before his beautiful solo goal for his second Musiala had threatened the Darmstadt defence countless times with similar moves. He nearly completed his hat-trick with a delightful chip that clipped the crossbar late on. A truly captivating performance from the youngster.
THE BIG LOSER
While Musiala continues to shine, Leroy Sane's dreadful form continues. The Bayern winger is now five months without a goal and his frustration was palpable when he was substituted in the second-half. Sane walked straight down the tunnel visibly annoyed, before eventually re-joining his team-mates on the bench. To make matters worse for the German, his replacement Serge Gnabry took just three minutes to score with a fine finish off the right. These are certainly dark times for Sane, who could face a spell on the bench if Gnabry keeps up his efforts.
