In a positive update for those at Elland Road, Leeds United are now in pole position to sign a South American star, who wants to join up with Daniel Farke’s side this summer.
Farke: "Ambitious" Leeds "want to be back for good"
Back in the Premier League after two seasons away, the 49ers and Leeds wasted no time before attempting to get Farke’s side ready for the top flight. Those at Elland Road have welcomed a total of six signings so far this summer and may yet welcome a few more before the transfer window slams shut at the start of September.
The German manager knows exactly what he wants in a new signing too and has seemingly focused on adding aerial strength to his side with towering figures such as Anton Stach the latest to arrive.
The Leeds boss recently told reporters when asked about summer additions: “So we are ambitious and we want to be back for good, and we want that the players develop with us as a club. We want just players who are still close to their prime and have the chance also to develop further on.
“So it’s important for me to have players in a good age with good experience but they are not the finished product. So we didn’t want to have projects. We don’t want to have players who are just happy to get another contract.
“I wouldn’t rule out that in the end, perhaps one project if it fits from the position. Also one player was over 30. But the general headline about the signings is more like quality, more experience but on the way up to their career.”

That ambition has already seen the Whites reportedly turn to Inter Milan striker Mehdi Taremi, and they now seemingly find themselves in pole position for another attacking star.
Leeds in pole position to sign Paixao
According to French newspaper Le Figaro Sports, as relayed by TeamTalk, Leeds are now in pole position to sign Igor Paixao following the news that the Feyenoord winger prefers a summer switch to Elland Road rather than elsewhere.
Farke’s side apparently impressed his agents during meetings, which has apparently put Leeds ahead of competitors as things stand.
What’s more, according to other previous reports relayed by TT, Feyenoord are looking at an alleged £26m proposal from Leeds more favourably despite the fact that it falls short of their £35m valuation.
The Whites’ bid reportedly includes a number of bonuses, and is higher than both Marseille and AS Roma are willing to pay for Paixao this summer.
Praised for his “great” aerial ability and “high shot volume” by analyst Ben Mattinson last year, who also called the attacker a “standout” Feyenoord star, Paixao has since enjoyed an excellent campaign at Feyenoord.
After scoring 18 goals and assisting another 19 in all competitions for the Dutch side, it’s clear that the Brazilian winger would be among Leeds’ best signings this summer as Feyenoord continue to mull over their offer.
