Joshua Kimmich's second-half header earned Bayern a 1-0 win over the Gunners on Wednesday night, securing them a place in the semi-finals of the competition following a 3-2 aggregate victory. After the match, centre-back Dier, who spent nearly 10 years at Spurs before joining the Bavarians in January on loan, rubbed salt into Arsenal's wounds with his comments.

The 30-year-old, who has made 14 appearances for the German giants to date, told Sky Sports: "Yeah it was nice [beating Arsenal]. It was nice, it was nice to knock them out to be honest.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Dier, who linked up with former Tottenham team-mate Harry Kane at Bayern, turned his loan move into a permanent deal in early March and it appears the transfer has been good for all parties. Despite the win over Arsenal, Bayern's task gets even harder as they will face Real Madrid in the last four of the Champions League as they try to ensure they don't have a trophyless season for the first time since 2012.
